A pre-season trip to the northern end of Nootka island proved to be quite rewarding.  Nuchatlitz Park is located on the peninsula between Nuchatlitz Inlet and Esperanza Inlet and is comprised mainly of a tiny archipelago of reef protected islands that face out onto the open Pacific Ocean.

Due to it's proximity to the open ocean, the landscape of Nuchatlitz reflects the struggle that life must endure on such a rugged coast oftentimes creating a beautiful contrast between the harsh conditions on the coast and the incredibly diverse life teeming just on it's fringes in a somewhat tenuous state of existence.
