2004 A six day, 120km paddle through Clayoquot Sound proved to be quite an adventure. The whole area is stunning and I am anxious to try another trip again soon...next stop is the Broken Group further to the South. Our destination for the half-way portion of the journey: Hot Springs Cove. The springs are naturally occurring and provide welcome relief after the stresses of a long day of paddling.

2005 A return trip in 2005 provided me not only with more material but with a different sort of experience as well. The group decided to take a more leisurely approach this year so that we ended up stretching the trip out to eleven days in total. We also paddled out to Cow Bay on Flores Island and braved the outside coast up to Half Moon Bay on the north end of Flores. Note the wolf and cougar tracks in the sand: you are definitely involved in a wilderness camping experience in Clayoquot! The trip also included a side trip down Sulfur Passage, another visit to the hot springs, a return to Whitesand Cove on the south end of Flores and a new campsite (for us) on Vargas Island. Paddling passages and on the coast Vargas Island Hot Springs
